On 12 January 2013, Maritime Law Committee of Guangzhou Lawyers Association held a seminar on the topic of “Analysis of Judicial Interpretation on Maritime Affairs and Freight Transport” and Mr. Yu Xiaohan, judge of the 4th Civil Court of the Supreme People’s Court, was invited give speech on new judicial interpretations and some hot-spot issues in maritime field in recent years to lawyers from Guangzhou maritime fields.
This seminar was held by Maritime Law Committee of Guangzhou Lawyers Association and divided into two sections, lecture and seminar. The lecture in the morning was moderated by Mr. Chen Xiangyong, director of Maritime Law Committee of Guangzhou Lawyers Association. Mr. Yu Xiaohan made wonderful explanations of part of articles of Several Provisions of the Supreme People’s Court on Trying Cases about Disputes on Limitation of Liability for Maritime Claims, Several Provisions of the Supreme People’s Court on Trying Cases about Disputes on Compensation for Oil Pollution Damage from Ships and Several Provisions of the Supreme People’s Court on Trying Cases about Disputes on Freight Forwarder at Sea, which sparked warm applause. The seminar in the afternoon was moderated by Ms. Judy Lin, secretary-general of Maritime Law Committee of Guangzhou Lawyers Association and managing partner of our law firm. At the seminar, lawyers had a lively discussion on theoretical problems in practice with Mr. Yu Xiaohan.
This seminar, held by Maritime Law Committee of Guangzhou Lawyers Association and co-organized by Yang & Lin, obtained satisfied results, which contributed a lot to the improvement of the academic level of maritime lawyers in Guangzhou.
