The Ninth International Conference on Maritime Law was successfully held in Shanghai from 29 October to 31 October, 2018. The conference was hosted by the China Maritime Law Association, organized by Shanghai Maritime University, the Supreme People's Court, China Council for the Promotion of International Trade, China Cosco Shipping Group, China Merchants Group, The Peoples Insurance Company Group China Limited, and co-organized by the Maritime Professional Committee of All China Lawyers Association. Yang & Lin Co Law Firm was one of the conference sponsors.

    Some 350 people at home and from abroad attended the conference, including Zhang Wenxian vice chairman of China Law Association, Lu Pengqi the chairman of China Maritime Law Association and vice chairman of China Council for the Promotion of International Trade, Wang Shumei the vice chairman of China Maritime Law Association and the president of the fourth court of civil trial of the Supreme People’s Court, Liu Ping the vice director of the Legal Office of the Shanghai Municipal People’s Government, Yang Wanfeng the deputy principal of Shanghai Maritime University, Guchao the secretary-general of China Maritime Arbitration Commission, Yu Shicheng the professor and former principal of Shanghai Maritime University and Stuart Heatherington the chairman of comite maritime international (CMI).

    Director Yang of the Guangzhou headquarter, Wei Mingzhong the director of the Shanghai branch office, and Zhang Guoqing, Hou Guobin, and Chen Tao the vice directors of the Shanghai branch office attended the conference.

    On the morning of 30 October, director Yang made an English speech titled “Practice of cross-border insolvency and conflicts between maritime and insolvency matters under Chinese law” and gained high praise from the attendees.
