The 8th China-Korea International Private Law Academic Seminar was held at Dongfang Hotel, Guangzhou on 27 Oct 2018. The Seminar was hosted by China Society of Private International Law and Guangzhou Arbitration Commission, organized by the law school of the South China Normal University, Guangzhou International Shipping Arbitration Institute, Shipping Law Research Association of Guangdong Law Society, co-organized by Guangdong Public Welfare Foundation for Promoting the Rule of Law, International Shipping Law and Policy Research Center of the South China Normal University, Yang & Lin Co Law Firm and Beijing Kangda (Guangzhou) Law Firm.
Some
60 experts attended the seminar. They were from South China Normal University,
China University of Political Science and Law, Wuhan University and other ten
more domestic universities, Seoul National University and other 3 Korean
universities, Guangdong Law Society, Guangdong Higher People’s Court, Guangzhou
Maritime Court, Guangzhou Arbitration Commission, courts of Seoul, law firms
from Korea and Guangzhou. Over 150 students from the South China Normal
University attended the seminar.
Professor Huang Jin and Professor Shi Guangxian spoke
irrespectively on behalf of the China and Korea Society of International
Private Law. Professor Huang Jin was the vice chairman of the Chinese Law
Society, chairman of the China Society of Private International Law and
principal of the China University of Political Science and Law. Professor Shi
Guangxian was the chairman of the Korea Society of Private International Law
and professor of the law school of the Seoul National University. Zhu Kongjun
the secretary of the party committee of the South China Normal University, and
Wang Xiaoli the director of the Guangzhou Arbitration Commission also addressed
speeches.
Director Yang attended the seminar and gave a
lecture in the section about Several Issues on Maritime Parallel Litigation.
Large in scale and rich in topics, the high-end
seminar sparked enthusiastic discussion. The content was practical and the
propaganda was new (the entire seminar was broadcasted live on Weizhan and over
10 media covered the seminar online and offline). Coming out as a great success
beyond expectation, the seminar greatly promoted the exchanges and friendship
between China and South Korea in the international private law community.
