2018 Maritime Law Forum was convened at Guangzhou Maritime Court on 4 Nov 2018.
The forum was guided by Guangzhou Base of International Maritime Justice of the Supreme People's Court, supported by Guangzhou Bureau of Justice, hosted by Guangzhou International Shipping Judicial Research Association (Guangzhou Maritime Judges Association), Guangdong Lawyers Association, Guangzhou Lawyers Association, Maritime Professional Committee of All China Lawyers Association, co-hosted by Maritime Logistics Law Professional Committee of Guangdong Lawyers Association, Legal and Business Environment Research Institute of Guangzhou Lawyers Association.
About 350 people attended the forum. They were from the Supreme People’s Court, Guangdong Higher People’s Court, Guangzhou Maritime Court, the Guangzhou Political and Legal Committee, Guangzhou Bureau of Justice, All China Lawyers Association, Guangdong Lawyers Association, Guangzhou Lawyers Association, Dalian Maritime University, Shanghai Maritime University, Sun Yat-sen University, Guangdong University of Foreign Studies, South China Normal University, Southwest University of Political Science & Law, MSAs, insurance companies, shipping companies, law firms and other institutions. There were also experts from the United Kingdom, Japan, South Korea.
Director Yang Yunfu
addressed on MT Sanchi and Vessel-induced Oil Pollution, and acted as the host
in a lecture section at the forum. Vice director Duan Tingwu addressed on
Development And Challenges of the UK Anti-suit Injunction——Talks on the Validity of Arbitration Terms
in Foreign-relate Trial of Commercial Cases in China. Their speeches gained
high praise from the attendees.
Mr. Yang also served
as the vice director of the Maritime Professional Committee of All China
Lawyers Association and the director of the Maritime Logistics
Law Professional Committee of Guangdong Lawyers Association.
The Several Legal Issues of Cross-border Insolvency——On the Insolvency of Hanjin Shipping co-written by Yang Yunfu, Hou Guobin (vice director of Shanghai branch office), Wang Deling was awarded the third prize. The Development And Challenges of the UK Anti-suit Injunction——Talks on the Validity of Arbitration Terms in Foreign-relate Trial of Commercial Cases in China co-written by Yang Yunfu and Chen Tao (vice director of Shanghai branch office) received a honorable mention.
