On 29 Dec 2018, Yang & Lin Co Law Firm Received silk banner from She Jianzhao, vice general manager of CPIC Fujian branch, Lin Zhen, general manager of Fuzhou branch, and Li Zhangwang, general manager of the aerial and maritime center on behalf of Fujian CPIC. The banner read Professional and Advocated Maritime Elite Team.
MV “Tianli 69” underwritten by Fujian CPIC went aground and sank in the Huayang Reef, Nansha in the South China Sea in October 2014. Dispute over insurance contract arose therefrom. The insured sued Fujian CPIC before Haikou Maritime Court. Fujian CPIC entrusted Yang Yunfu and Yuan Jinsong, lawyers from this law firm, to represent the case. In a similar case of MV "Yanfan 27" sank in the Huayang Reef, Nansha in January 2015, the Ningbo Maritime Court decided the insurer Ningbo CPIC liable to compensate in September 2017.
With the efforts of this law firm, the Haikou Maritime Court ruled in December 2017 that Fujian CPIC was not liable for compensation (some two months later than the Ningbo Maritime Court). The insured appealed and the Hainan High Court made judgment in September 2018 to affirm the original judgment. Fujian CPIC won both trials.
Zhejiang High Court amended the judgment to MV “Yangfan 27” in October 2018. Ningbo CPIC shall not be liable for the compensation.
