On August 14, 2013, MV "Trans Summer", carrying more than 50,000 tons of laterite nickel ore, sank with hundreds of tons of fuel oil onboard in the waters in the vicinity of the Wanshan Islands in the Pearl River Estuary. The consignee claimed for the cargo lost in an amount of 17 million yuan against the captain of the ship. The Guangdong Ocean and Fisheries Bureau claimed for the fishery resource loss in an amount of 55 million yuan. 282 fishermen, aquaculture enterprises, and beach operators claimed a total of about 45 million yuan in fishing loss, breeding loss, and beach profit loss. The total subject matter of this case is about 150 million yuan.
